Hello and welcome! My name is Aranzazú Sierra Fernández (you can also call me Arancha). I am a MSCA postdoctoral fellow at the Geosciences Institute, IGEO (CSIC, UCM), in Madrid, Spain. My current research focus is on the creation of novel bio-inspired composite coatings with potential applications in cultural heritage conservation.

Specific research interests include:

  • Nanotechnologies in Cultural Heritage
  • Bio-inspired composite stone consolidation and protection design
  • Biomineralization
  • Nucleation and growth of crystals
  • Films and hybrid materials
  • Mechanisms of stone deterioration
